Overview

Wildchain is an initiative that aims to raise awareness and funds for conservation projects in a sustainable and scalable way, by tapping into entertainment and games. Bring wildlife conservation knowledge in real world to the online platform.

Problem

We’ve lost 60% of wildlife populations in the past fifty years, according to the WWF (report). Such devastating loss is attributed to habitat destruction, deforestation, climate change and many other environmental impacts caused by humans. Lack of awareness, climate change and loss of biodiversity are three pressing issues our natural world faces today. Earth’s ecosystems and need our help to be restored.

Mission

Wildchain is bringing people together to protect our planet’s endangered species and natural zones by creating shared value between social entertainment and real-world impact. Wildchain is a platform for wildlife conservation initiatives to raise awareness and fund their projects. Each Wildlife Non-Fungible Tokens (WIN) on our blockchain is a digital representation of an animal living in the real world, one to one. Wildchain uses the latest population estimates to create a digital mirror of our planet’s most precious species on the blockchain. For example, if there are 30 Vaquitas left in the world, there will also be 30 Vaquitas on our blockchain.

Inspired by games like Pokemon Go, Tamagotchi, and Farmville, Wildchain is aiming to use gamification to build awareness by educating users about various species they discover in-game, build engagement by creating incentives that link online actions with offline impact, and to raise funds by creating communities that will champion for projects that protect their favorite species in the real world. Users will be able to digitally adopt a range of wild animals, with the funds they pay going towards nature conservation and wildlife protection projects that are working on the ground to restore Earth’s biodiversity and prevent extinction.

Earth’s natural world is plummeting towards a crisis that will soon be irreversible unless we take action immediately. 60% of all Earth’s wildlife has been lost in the past 4 decades. This is the most devastating loss of biodiversity since the mass extinction of the dinosaurs.

This is the result of climate change, habitat destruction, pollution, and poaching, to name a few. To make things worse, the heroic efforts of conservationists are dramatically underfunded. The lack of transparency from donations, low public awareness and engagement make it more challenging for conservation projects to defeat this threat.

As we observe the success of games like Tamagotchi™ or Pokemon Go™, we realize that games have the power to create engagement with billions of people through entertainment. That’s why we created Wildchain, a Digital Collectible Game for Wildlife Conservation to bring people together and play for impact!

Here is where you come in…

In Wildchain, you become a Digital Conservationist and your mission is to preserve all wildlife on Earth. Your journey begins in the African Savanna – where millions of years ago our species evolved and migrated across this magnificent planet. This vast and diverse open plain is where massive Elephants roam, proud Lions hunt, and tiny Meerkats scurry side by side. As more and more species are pushed towards extinction, they need heroes like you to come to their aid!

Wildchain is a digital collectible game where you adopt threatened animals, which are unique digital representations of animals living in the wild across the world! Using the data from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™, we based our game on the most updated and reliable source of information on animals’ population.

For example, according to the IUCN Red List, there are 112 African Wild Donkeys left in the wild. If you happen to get a critically endangered African Wild Donkey in the game, this makes you one of the lucky few to adopt the super rare African Wild Donkey. Hee-haw!

To begin your journey, you will need to get some Magic Eggs with rarities of either Common, Rare or Epic. These eggs will hatch into random baby animals with varying endangerment statuses. Furry Fingers crossed!

If you don’t want to try your luck on Magic Eggs, don’t ferret! Wildchain has an Adoption Center. You can adopt the animals you want from your friends (or even strangers that you just met on the internet). Likewise, you can let your fellow digital conservationists care for your animals instead.

While most of the time your animals will be out in the wilderness exploring and gathering, they will pay regular visits to your sanctuary, where you will have opportunities to interact with them. But you need to ensure the Eco Score of your Sanctuary is high enough.

To attract them to your Sanctuary, look into your Wildbook for information on your animals’ favorite items and their needs. Your Sanctuary spans across the vast plains covering 5 different environments in which your animals can live and prosper.

Every time your animal visits, they also gain experience points that allow them to grow. There are three maturity stages in Wildchain – baby, teen, and adult.

To repay you for your loving care, your animals will bring you rewards – items that they have gathered while they were out exploring the wild. The Seeds that you will receive from various visiting species are the in-game currencies that you can use to purchase items and improve your Sanctuary.

For instance, a baby Cheetah usually prefers the Grassland of African Savanna as her habitat. Since she is just a tiny cub, she needs the dense grass to hide from hungry predators. As her status is Vulnerable, she will not visit your Sanctuary unless the Eco Score is High. Each time she visits, she also gains experience points and will eventually mature into an adult. As a grateful little wild cat that she is, she has also rewarded you with Seeds!

Simply put, when all the requirements are met, your animals will appear in your Sanctuary, interact with their favorite items, earn experience points, give you rewards, and live their best wild digital life!

When you are playing Wildchain, you are also supporting our planet’s precious wildlife because 100% of our profits go to projects that work to provide the same loving care for animals in the wild as you do in your Sanctuary. This includes the money we make from selling eggs, in-game items and optional ads.

Giving is part of the game. You might support wildlife rangers who protect rhinos from poachers, you could support farmers to protect their livestock or help to protect the habitat of Zebras. As the population changes in the wild so too does those in the game, so by helping protect your animals in the wild, you earn a chance to be rewarded with their offsprings in the digital world.

You can also become a Guardian for your favorite species by supporting real-world conservation efforts. For taking this additional step to help conservation, your animals earn Alpha Score which increases the chance of you hatching even rarer species in the future. Alpha Score can also be earned by sharing your animal’s referral link – thereby helping to raise awareness and funds to protect their species. Become the leader of the pack by taking real-world action to help protect and grow your favorite species out of extinction.

Deforestation and loss of habitat are some of the main reasons why species ‘go the way of the dodo’. Trees not only are home to animals but also absorb pollution, provide nutrients, and produce oxygen. That’s why our tree-planting partner in Africa will plant trees for each magic egg sold. Mangroves sequester carbon at a rate two to four times greater than mature tropical forests, science says.
