Overview

Underprivileged students do not get opportunities to explore their interests outside the normal classroom due to inadequate school and familial budget. Saturday School organizes extracurricular classes for underprivileged students to find their personal interest beyond normal classrooms. Every 3,000 THB donated provides 1 student with a new learning opportunity for 1 semester.

Problem

Underprivileged students do not get equal life opportunities as their richer peers due to inadequate school and familial budget and only acquire school-subject knowledge, which may not answer their personal interest. And as many as 240,000 Thai students left the education system to support their family from the pandemic in 2021

Saturday School Mission

Saturday School hosts extracurricular classes for underprivileged students to create access to life opportunities and assist their discovery of passion and interests beyond conventional classroom subjects. The organization also aims for students to attain soft skills (self-awareness, growth mindset, resilience, prosocial behavior) necessary for their future career.

Arranged in partnering opportunity expansion schools every Saturday and facilitated by volunteers, students are encouraged to join extracurricular courses, which vary according to student interest and to the current skills and career trend.

Every Baht of your donation via purchasing GiveCards or direct transaction goes to fund class materials, improve teaching quality, and give opportunity for student exhibition.With 3,000 THB, a student is able to join 20 Saturday classes and showcase in 2 exhibitions. Update: July 2025

Saturday School is stepping into its 11th year, continuing to create learning spaces beyond the classroom for children to continuously develop life skills. With the support of over 257 volunteers and the collaboration of 42 schools across Bangkok, Saturday School Season 16 has provided more than 1,225 children with access to extracurricular learning that strengthens essential life skills, ranging from self-awareness, resilience, and social interaction, to modern skills such as utilizing AI tools and digital platforms creatively and safely.

One of the most inspiring aspects is the children’s growing interest in modern technology skills, reflecting both their eagerness to learn and the potential waiting to be ignited.

Beyond that, Saturday School has also expanded through initiatives like Saturday School Student Support and Saturday School eXpansion, reaching new provinces including Samut Sakhon, Chiang Mai, and Phetchaburi.

Update: June 2024

Apart from special classes on Saturdays, Saturday School also provide guidance for high school students under the program “Student Support”. This program will allow students to meet people who have been working in the field they are interested in, from financial, marketing and branding and content creation on Youtube and TikTok.

The new academic year is coming! Saturday School has successfully expanded! And we’re excited to announce the upcoming campaign for Saturday School eXpansion Chonburi.

TAT Pattaya and Socialgiver are collaborating in #MeaningfulTravel campaign to introduce Pattaya as a family-friendly and destination for conscious travelers! With the support of many local hotels and businesses in Chonburi, Socialgiver now has plenty of GiveCards where travels can use while they’re in Chonburi. The revenue from every purchases of GiveCards under #MeaningfulTravel campaign will go to Saturday School to support their hardworking team that are trying to create the new learning opportunity for children all over Thailand.

Update: Febuary 2023

Saturday School is expanding! In 2022 Saturday School has worked with schools in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Khon Kaen, Phuket and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

In 2023 Saturday School is going to Chonburi, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Sawan and Phitsanulok.

Update: January 2023

Saturday School continues creating meaningful experience of learning for their students as well as started new workshop program called “Career Exploration”.

Saturday School invited 3 business owners to hold 3 different workshops to demonstrate how business in certain area runs from scratch, planning, processing to executing. Every students got chance to explore their interest and able to get advice from real business owners.

Gastronomy workshop by Ampersand – This workshop demonstrate how to create a gelato from selecting ingredients, preparing the right tools, making gelato to curating new flavors.

Business workshop by NPP Box – This workshop focuses on marketing and communication for business. What a marketeer does to understand the need and able to develop their brand to meet their customers while also being unique.

Graphic design workshop by Volunteer teachers, Mint and Vee – Volunteers teachers show students how to create their own project and design their own artwork.น

Update: November 2022

Saturday School Bangkok kicked off their Week 0 by having Anna, Miss Universe Thailand 2022 joined the preparation meeting to encourage Saturday School’s volunteer teachers. In this meeting volunteer teachers and staff discussed about
1) Preparation for the class
2) Rules and agreements to keep the good work environment on field
3) Teaching demonstration

Saturday School has currently launched six programs during Quarter 2 and 3. The programs offered in this season aim to provide students with a variety of skill sets, including language learning, presentation, communications, and teamwork, along with skills in vocational areas such as drawing, dancing, singing, and cooking.

Saturday School eXpansion

Our organization seeks to provide students with skill opportunities and experiences that are outside conventional classrooms, and we have aimed to maximize our program outreach to as many students as possible where they can discover their identity and their preferences with no limits. For this reason, we decided to expand our program outside of Bangkok.

With the pandemic situation in Thailand subsiding, we were able to put the Saturday School eXpansion program onsite. Through face-to-face sessions, our students were satisfied as they could engage with their classmates and their courseworks. Currently, there are only high school students participating in the program.

Saturday School Season 11

We mainly focus on what is current to today’s top skill trends. Hence, the 8 subjects provided to our 12 classrooms were video editing, content design and production, graphic designing, singing, cartoon drawing, cooking and baking, English, Japanese language classes. There are 5 schools participating in our program this season.

Saturday School International

Integrating foreign languages into students’ daily life and what we thought would gain their engagement, we used Disney’s A Whole New World to enhance students’ English skills.

Saturday School Student Support Season 5

The team introduced Self-Awareness as the theme of this season. Along with their volunteer buddies, students embarked on a mini-journey on self-discovery, their strengths and weaknesses and learned how to utilize their strong points and improve their weak spots to pursue their career paths.

Four lessons that both students and volunteers should obtain from participating in the Saturday School program:

Self-awareness: Being able to reflect yourself and accept their strong suits and weak points and identifying your personal values
Falling does not mean you fail: Being able to adapt and improve despite being unable to achieve something that was expected, and being able to stay calm even under pressure or during a predicament
Growth mindset: Being open-minded and understanding, willing to change for the better and knowing that self-improvement takes time and effort
Social responsibility: Acting in favor of social interest

In the first quarter of this year, the Saturday School program successfully launched three programs that focus on different areas of student learning. 109 students participated in the programs taught by 175 volunteer teachers in total.

Saturday School Season 10.5

We believe that students learn better if they learn something related to their daily life as well as this would introduce students to prosocial behavior development. Therefore, we utilized “project based learning” as the core learning tool for our program; students were given a prompt that asked them to come up with a project that would support their community development. Six total projects were proposed using Design Thinking

Saturday School International

Students developed their English skills through learning about The Grinch. With creative approaches in language learning such as visual, auditory learning or reading/writing, students became more enthusiastic and gained confidence when speaking English and were able to adapt what they learned in class to real-life use.

Saturday School Student Support Season 4.5

Students were given the opportunity to explore three career fields that follow today’s career trend, which consist of online business, catering and communications. Six missions were assigned to students to come up with a solution to each challenge. In this way, students acquired knowledge and insight about what each field is about.

Saturday School eXpansion Phuket

First time ever of Saturday School in Phuket! When we expand the chance of extra cirricular to the southern part of Thailand, Phuket. The extra curriculums were given by 15 volunteers and 12 volunteer teachers for 60 students.

Saturday School Student Support Season 4

Support 30 high school students to reach their dreams easier. This program aims to make highschool students dreams come through by using mentorship system to open their world and get to learn about more possibilities with the support of 20 volunteers and 15 metors.

Update 2021

The program “Positive Thinking Charity” has shown the life stories of many positive thinkers for two full years and has high intention to compile various stories of some guests to use as an activity called “Positive Thinking Charity”. Join us to share the love and increase life energy in a positive way

In the event divided into 3 parts:

1.) Positive Thinking Talk

The main part that will inspire people in the society through a perspective on the life of some of the guests in the form of “Think Positive Talk”, with about 15 guests coming to share their life stories while showing their own ways of positive thinking.

2.) Positive Thinking Show

Forwarding encouragement to each other by shows from a variety of positive groups of people under the activity “Think Positive Show” such as

– Discover another version of story narration “Blind Theatre” from visually impaired persons

– Music performance of the autistic children

– Music performance of visually impaired youth

3.) Positive Thinking Fair

A space for a group of stores that have business guidelines for the development of the environment, people’s health, communities, which will come to present and sell their products.

In collaboration with Positive Thinking Charity, We can raise money for supporting Saturday School for 19,115 THB by these activities.
